Time, to introduce you one of the men with whom I worked very close over the last 18 months. I’m glad to introduce you, Werner Strähl, he’s the one responsible for the output of my books! We spent countless hours, late in the night and on weekends over the manuscript with proofreading, correcting, rewriting, extend lyrics, avoid duplicates, putting punctuations etc.. Werner belongs to those typesetters of the old school. With him I’ve found the perfect person to work on my projects. For me personally, he was a wonderful mentor by reflecting my phrases and their meaning. But the most huge effort of him was working on the Italian edition – he doesn’t understand any Italian! Grazie dal profondo del mio cuore, Werner, hai fatto un lavoro eccezionale!!

Die junge Frau sitzt ihrer „ganz besonderen Tante“ gegenüber, eine Tasse schwarzen Kaffees vor sich. Ein langer Flug liegt hinter ihr. Eingetaucht in die altmodische, von Erinnerungen geprägte Umgebung, fiebert sie nun langersehnten Antworten entgegen. „Was macht Deine Papierfabrik?“ Möchte sie als Erstes wissen. Die Tante beginnt zu erzählen. Von ihrer Jugend in süditalienischer Armut. Vom eingeschränkten Leben als junge Frau in der damaligen Zeit. Vom späteren Dasein als Gastarbeiterin in der Schweiz. Es folgt die unglaubliche Heirat auf Distanz, zu der sie sich 1954 mittels einer „Procura“ verpflichtete. Ein Foto am Schluss des Buches zeigt sie als Braut ohne Bräutigam. Erst zehn Jahre später sollte sie diesen physisch treffen, was bedeutete, dass sie nach Argentinien auswandern musste. Unendlich vieles aus familiärer Vergangenheit stürmt auf die gebannt lauschende Nichte ein. Die Tapferkeit und Intelligenz ihrer Tante Anna, die schliesslich zu späterem Wohlstand führte, nötigt ihr Achtung und Respekt ab. Vor allem die Gründung der Papierfabrik. In reiner Handarbeit hatte sie im fernen Argentinien Tragtaschen, Tüten, Verpackungsschachteln und andere Papierprodukte hergestellt und so das Überleben der Familie gesichert. Gefühle übermannen die alte Frau zwischendurch. Bittere und andere. Dann wieder spricht sie nüchtern über die politischen Wirren der vergangenen Jahre. Über die Hochs und Tiefs als Folge. Ihre Geschichte ist lang. Die Ausdrucksweise unverfälscht.
Dieses Buch ist ein wertvolles, spannend gestaltetes Zeitdokument, das vor vier Jahren von der Autorin auf eigene Faust verfilmt wurde. Die Sensibilität mit der sie Tante Anna ihre Geschichte aufrollen lässt, zeugt von tiefem Bedürfnis, mehr über ihre Familie zu wissen und vor allem zu „verstehen“.
Die Papierfabrik erscheint neu auch in italienischer Sprache. Was einer eigentlichen Heimkehr gleichkommt. Ich gratuliere Sina Merino zu dieser liebevoll gestalteten und sehr aufschlussreichen Erzählung.

The newspaper La Sorgente soon will publish their X-mas issue Nr.89, which will be for sale at newsstands and sent all over the world to their subscribers and later available online. La Sorgente honors me with an article with some news for 2015, 2014 has made me happy and the new year will be surely demanding!

Gefangen in der gnadenlos materialistischen Welt des Rohstoffhandels, getrieben vom Erfolgsdruck, glaubt sich Tristan Damiani, begehrter Junggeselle in den Vierzigern, zufrieden. Bis zu dem Tag, an dem er ein Schloss erbt und er sich mit seiner Herkunft konfrontiert sieht. Stück für Stück trägt er die Puzzleteile zusammen, die vorerst ein verstörendes, dann aber immer klarerers Bild der Umstände seiner Existenz ergeben. Helen, seine Freundin, unterstützt ihn so gut sie kann. Die Frage nach dem wirklichen Sinn des Lebens tritt immer mehr in den Vordergrund.
Die Autorin hat mit diesem Werk ein spannendes Buch voller Emotionen geschaffen. Bezaubernd, fantasievoll. Aber auch realistisch bezüglich menschlicher Schwächen und Abgründe. Was mir beim Lesen etwas Mühe bereitete, sind die kursiven Einschübe. Andererseits machen gerade sie das Buch zu etwas Besonderem. Nebel über Durban ist eine Novelle, die mir sehr gut gefallen hat und die ich gerne weiter empfehle.

La Sorgente goes international!

The newspaper was founded in 1973 by director Nicola Conforti and it’s his life-work, still today surviving in the online-era. It can be bought at the local newsstands or subscribed, most of the readers support the paper with spontaneous contributions.

La Sorgente is distributed all over Italy and as well to these countries: Brazil, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, United Kingdom & United States.

From the bottom of my heart thanks to Nicola Conforti and Gerardo Ceres, my interview had a huge worldwide response, I feel very honored!

On 3rd August the Pro Loco of Caposele (Italy, Pro Loco means a cultural community of the village) will present the 88th issue of the local newspaper „La Sorgente (The Source) at the sala polifunzionale (a multi-purpose room of the village). This newspaper was founded in 1973 and is of course online available too. But for the local people this newspaper is always a special event combined with a festivity and some of my relatives will take part.

Caposele is the hometown of my grandparents and as a child I was often there for holidays and I’m still in touch with the local people. Caposele is well-known about the source of the river Sele, which flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea and about the Apulian Aqueduct. In my first book „Die Papierfabrik“ I wrote about the village and surroundings.

In this issue you can read an interview with me, conducted by Gerardo Ceres, one of the editors of the newspaper and some excerpts in italian of the book. I was very surprised discovering a lot of local writers/authors, so it was given in my genes the writing!

I feel very honored to be part of this artists gallery and contribute with my literature part!
