Literature days in Solothurn

Solothurn is the capital town of the canton Solothurn. The canton where I was born and grew up, my roots are exactly in a geographical region called „Niederamt“ and it’s on the foothills of the jurassic-range.
I moved at the age of 24 to the neighbour-canton Aargau and I live since then here.

Solothurn is also well-known for the annual literature days. Well-known or nearly famous authors come here to introduce their new books with readings. It was a honour for me to be here, being a member of the femscript-network of writing women and introduce my book at the stand to the visitors.

I had the pleasure to join Feridun Zaimoglu’s introduction and new book, it was very amusing and a little bit different from the common readings, we had a lot to laugh. Feridun has an unbeatable good sense of humour!

Foire du livre St. Louis/France

Salut!

The ASIS (Association of the italian writers in Switzerland) has been invited to take part at the book fair in St. Louis. I had no reading there, we „only“ had our stand and introduced our association to the visitors and make it well-known to the neighbour-country.

this was very interesting to see, how paper comes out!

BuchBasel

Hallo!

For the 2nd time I was invited for a reading at the book fair in Basel. This time I took the opportunity to make the IG Secondas and our ideas well-known too, wearing the shirt and sensitize to the coming election about releaved naturalization.

I wrote about the topic migration and I am a daughter of the 1st generation imigrants, so my background is done and I am like many others in a transition generation. In a few months there will be the important election about naturalization of imigrants, I’ll write in a later article about!

Odd Fellows

Have you ever thought about the meaning of life, to find your inner values, questioning them and then to live?

Each of us has this moment and then follows this way.

I was invited for a reading at the women’s Odd Fellows Lodge in Aarau. Historical the Odd Fellows are mentioned in the 13th century and then in the 18th century it developed to the Odd Fellow Order.

The principles of the Odd Fellows is the thought of the releaf action and the three leading sentences are the foundation of the community: friendship, love and truth.

Three values that my family taught me!

Theatre in the cellar

The Theater im Keller 62 is located in Zurich and very small with space for nearly 60 visitors. I had the opportunity to see, how my written work suits as a theatre play. The actor Bodo Krummewiede put on stage passages of my book. I was in the first row interested to listen, because the other actor, Matthias, commented and critizised. Both regret it, that me as author wasn’t graspable in the story. They wanted to feel more about me in it.
But in a certain way it’s a part of my personality, my close friends confirmed that I’m neither graspable for them, although they know me for a long time…

A human can never be find out deep!

L‘ Eco, the echo – A tribute to my father

Ciao!

I was interviewed about my book by Margherita Lapertosa, journalist of the italian magazine L’Eco. I was honoured about that, because there was a special remembrance to my dad, who appeared in the earlier newspaper in 1967!

In the far 1963 my parents left the south of Italy to join the brothers already here in Switzerland. They had no money, only a damage suitcase and a working permit. At that time the italians were a very close community and my father was keen to win them all as subscribers of the newspaper, which informed weekly the italians about their mother country. Dad really wished to win a sewing-machine for mum or at least a bike, but no! He won the 1st price: a car, an Alfa Romeo Giulietta! So he was the only italian with a car, at that time this was a huge sensation! And so he appeared in the newspaper.

I remember my dad as a genius. We all lived in an old house with my uncles, aunties and cousins. We had rabbits, a big garden and a little bowling alley. He gave to the house more hospitality installing an outside light and for his beloved car he build with truck tarps a garage (probably the 1st Freitag-garage!) He was really talented in painting, photographing, singing and playing the hand organ and composing own songs. He was a very sociable person, on weekends he used to invite a lot of people for dining together and on Sundays he organised picnics in the countryside, it was real fun. Unfortunately he left us, when I was 5…and I’m grateful to have heritated his artistic vein.

Grazie papà!

PS: when my dad held my book in his hands, he started to cry and said „She’s still my princess“

Dad was a huge fan of John F. Kennedy (I think, he admired him about Marilyn Monroe!)
He always dreamt about to visit one day the White House!
